Giving Update

Boghall Church recently took part in two very worth causes; the Blythswood Care Shoe box appeal and a collection at our Harvest Worship for Practical Action.

A total of 47 shoeboxes, various other small gifts, money and some beautiful knitted clothes have now been sent to Blythswood Care, ready to be taken to Eastern Europe in time for

Christmas. At our harvest service on 6 October there was a special collection for Practical Action, which raised £578, plus £92 Gift Aid which will bring the total to £670. Thanks to all who took part.

Since 1966, Blythswood Care has combined the Christian message with practical help for those in need. Whether through filled shoeboxes at Christmas, relief and development aid or social projects for young and old, Blythswood brings hope to thousands in Europe, Africa and Asia. Blythswood is committed to long-term care projects in Romania, enabling disadvantaged children and young people fulfil their potential.

Practical Action put ingenious ideas to work so people in poverty can change their world. They help people find solutions to some of the world’s toughest problems – made worse by catastrophic climate change and persistent gender inequality.

They bring people together in collaborations, combining knowledge with innovation to change the systems that keep people poor and vulnerable. Working with communities to develop ingenious solutions for agriculture, water and waste management, climate resilience and clean energy access. Then sharing what’s proven to work with others, so many more people can change their world.
