A Word from Our Minister
Boghall
Parish Church — Spring Magazine 2026
Dear Friends,
As I sit to write this, the church calendar is beginning to turn towards spring, and with it comes that gentle sense of anticipation we often feel before something new begins. The
words from Isaiah have been on my mind: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” Sometimes new things arrive with great fanfare, but more often they appear quietly, like the first lighter mornings or the small signs of life returning to the trees around Boghall.
Over these past months the life of our congregation has been full in ways both visible and unseen. We have inducted and welcomed new Elders to our Kirk Session and welcomed families into our church family through Baptism.
There have been conversations over tea, moments of prayer shared in passing, laughter at community events, and steady acts of care for one another and our neighbours. Church life is never only what happens at 10.30 on a Sunday morning. It is found in midweek gatherings, in listening, in support, in music, in learning together, and in the many ordinary interactions that slowly shape a community of faith.
As we look ahead, we begin the journey towards Holy Week and then Easter — the heart of our story. It is a journey that takes us through reflection, honesty, hope and ultimately joy. You would be warmly welcome at any or all of the services during this time. Whether you come often, occasionally, or simply feel curious, there is space for you to walk alongside us. These services we hope will be online too, so if you are part of our online worshipping community you are very welcome.
We also look forward to welcoming Boghall Primary School as they join us for their Easter service. It is always a privilege to share the building and the story with the young people of our community. Their questions, energy and honesty remind us that faith is always lived in the present, never just remembered from the past.
The church continues to worship in many different ways — in quiet prayer and in conversation, in music and creativity, in service and friendship. Our hope is simple: that anyone who encounters this community might find a place to belong, a moment of peace, and perhaps a glimpse that God is still at work, still doing new things among us.
As the season unfolds, may you notice those small signs of new life in your own days too. If you wish to get in touch with me please do — I am always delighted to hear from you.
Grace and peace,
Dawn
